In my previous article \u201cOur Heroes-Covid-19 Frontliners<\/strong>\u201d, I listed our ASAT Alumni Frontliners. One of them is Mr. Eric Benigno Vista, a Nurse Responder of Aparri Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). A few weeks ago, he contracted the Covid-19 Virus and was admitted at the Nightingale Ward of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Below is Eric\u2019s experience as a Covid-19 Patient; he wants to share his experience with you with the hope that you, your family and friends will take this disease seriously and to follow prescribed mitigation guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCOVID-19 VIRUS IS\nREAL<\/strong>! We have been fighting this virus for the past year. An enemy that we\ncannot see. It affects a lot of us and even kills our love ones. As a Frontliner,\nI had observed that most of our fellow Aparrianos do not even care at all, some\nmay naka appreciate sa mga ginagawa namin at some wala na talagang pakialam,\naawayin kapa, makakarinig ka ng mga hindi magandang salita. Kahit na, todo\neffort kami para lang mailigtas at mailagay sa ayos ang lahat. Kaya saludo ako\nsa mga kapwa ko Frontliners at sa pamumuno ng ating butihing Mayor Bryan Chan\nat Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda. Sad to say isa nga po ako sa mga natamaan ng\nVirus hindi ko po ito ikakahiya dahil alam ko kung anung panganib ang hinaharap\nnamin mga kasamahan sa MDRRMO Aparri. Hindi ko rin alam kung kanino po ako na expose,\nsiguro dahil na rin sa sakit ko na Diabetes. Pero ganun po talaga ang buhay\nkahit anung gawin mong pagiingat hindi pa rin talaga maiwasan na tamaan ka ng\nsakit. Pero LIFE must Go On. Sabe nga ng doctor sa CVMC “Mas Frontliner pa\nkayo sa mga Frontliners ” kasi sinasalubong nyo ang kalaban na di nyo\nnakikita. At ramdam na ramdam ko talaga ang hirap.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During my first night\ndito sa CVMC Covid Ward, my nakakabit sa akin Cardiac Monitor at naka oxygen\nako sa kadahilanang bumaba ang oxygen level ko sa katawan at sobrang napagod\nako at naka swero po ako dalawang linya ng Dextrose. Magisa lang ako dito sa\nkwarto and tanging libangan ko lang ay itong Cell Phone ko. Di ko rin maiwasan\nmatakot, syempre nariring ko ung mga galaw ng staff pag may toxic silang\npasyente. And believe me, di mo gugustuhin ung maririnig mo at makikita and\nthen mababalitaan mo na lang sa FB page nila may namatay. Kaya todo dasal ako\nat pasasalamat sa Diyos.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes,\nCovid-19 Virus is real<\/em><\/strong> dahil nararanasan ko\nsiya ngayon at ang hirap sobra. Pero hindi ka pababayaan ng mga tao dito sa\nloob alagang alaga ka nila. Eto ung gamot na binigay-anti viral drug,\nanti-coagulant drug and naka dexamethasone (isang klase ng steroid drug para\nlumakas ang lungs ko) yan ang mga tinurok sa akin for 6 days. Then it turns out\nna very effective ung mga intervention sa akin. Laking pasalamat ko sa lahat ng\nmga nag alaga sa akin dito at sa mga prayers ninyo. Lalo na nung sinabe ng\nDoctor na “you’re a Covid-19 survivor ” halos maiyak ako sa tuwa at\nnung pang 7 na araw ko na, tinangal na rin Oxygen ko at IV fluids ko.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sana wag nating\nipagsawalang bahala ang sakit na Covid-19. Huwag sanang dumating yung panahon\nna maranasan nyo rin maquarantine ng 21 days at mag-agaw buhay. Maraming\nsalamat ulit sa panalangin. Sa mga mahal ko sa buhay na sumuporta along the\nway. Im very blessed to have you all. 5 more days to go.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hope that everyone continues to follow the mitigation\nguidelines- wear Face Mask, maintain Social Distances, avoid crowd, wash your\nhands often, stay away from those who are sick and quarantine family members\nwho are symptomatic.
