Bachelor of Science in Criminology remained as top priority choice of grade 12 students according to the survey conducted by the SHS Department during the Career Guidance and Advocacy Program on September 2019. “49% of our students said they will take BS Criminology as their college course. It was followed by engineering, accountancy, education, nursing and other courses.” revealed Mr. Jay L. Andres, SHS coordinator |
“The primary factor why many students would like to become police officers in the future is that they see the all- out support of our President Rodrigo Duterte to the PNP. Another factor is the high salary of the policemen.” he added.
Under President Duterte’s term, a Police Officer I (PO1) is receiving a monthly base pay of P29,668.
On the
other hand,
BS CRIMINOLOGY
accountancy ranks 2nd as the priority choice for SHS learners.
When asked about what will happen to the students who are under the TVL track, Mr. Andres said, “Our students under the TVL track may take whatever course
they like. However,
if they will take up BS Engineering or the likes, they may find it difficult
because of their
foundation.” explained Mr. Andres.
“On the other hand, our Bread and Pastry Production (BPP) students may take Tourism and Hotel Industry courses on universities
or TESDA. The good thing about K to
12 is that after students finish their SHS, they may opt to continue their
studies or apply for a job after graduation because most of them have their
NCII already.”he added.
